Wearing My Clients' Shoes...

I saw myself in my clients’ shoes Sunday evening. I was working in my yard. You may have noticed I have been doing that a lot, trying to tame the jungle. Anyway, I had a project planned to clear an area for a lettuce bed (although it may almost be too late to plant lettuce), but instead I was weeding. I started listening to myself and the conversation was going like this – “This isn’t what you planned to do. Go back to the lettuce project. But these weeds are so easy to pull up…This isn’t what you planned….. repeat, repeat…

I had done what you tell me so often happens in your projects - I’d gone to another area and got lost in it. Well, as my stress level went higher as I kept beating myself up, I realized I needed to STOP, evaluate what I was doing and make a DECISION on what was the best use of my time. After the decision was made I needed to BREATH and let go of the stress that had been building up inside me. After that I could enjoy being outside and doing what I was doing.

In case you are wondering, the lettuce project went on hold as I realized the weeds I was pulling up had just sprouted, so I didn’t even need to really pull them. They were on the surface thanks to the rain the night before. This was a type of weed I have been fighting for a long time, and I knew the next time I would see them they would be a foot high with roots as deep.

Check with me later to see if I am buying or picking lettuce.:)
